MULTOS Consortium launches the Trust Core IoT Development Kit
London, UK – 26th November 2020 – The MULTOS Consortium, a group of international blue chip organisations responsible for the promotion and development of the MULTOS specifications, announced today the launch of a new development kit for design companies, professionals, device manufacturers and software developers focused on securing embedded devices in the Internet of Things (IoT).
The MULTOS Trust Core secure embedded SDK reduces the design effort for smart secure device projects requiring robust hardware root-of-trust protection, critical for many IoT solutions and businesses. Its flexibility allows a high-security microcontroller running the renowned MULTOS operating system to be designed in as a supporting secure co-processor. Key features of the MULTOS technology which can be leveraged for smart secure devices include protecting the device runtime, ensuring the identity of endpoints, securing critical data, simplifying the provisioning process, with enhanced flexibility and life cycle management, all while supporting low power modes of operation.
The kit benefits from online support and contains sample application software to assist customers integrate secure connectivity using TLS/DTLS 1.2 to widely used IoT platforms such as AWS IoT. As well as securing connectivity, the supplied software may be used to protect data at rest, for example encrypting the contents of files. Being programmable and highly flexible, it can be modified to support many other IoT platform solutions and bespoke security protocols. The plug-in format allows convenient integration with the popular RasberryPi® and Arduino® single-board computers. MULTOS Trust Core is available for purchase from Distrelec (www.distrelec.de/en/p/30182176), a MULTOS Consortium Partner member and distributor within the MULTOS community.
Distrelec offer an extensive IoT solution portfolio, applicable to a wide range of IoT, embedded and connected device applications and markets. This new MULTOS development kit further enhances the secure device range with added flexibility within the portfolio. With ever increasing threats developing from hackers in the connected IT world, security solutions of the high grade offered by MULTOS technology are likely to be in ever greater demand.
Charlotte Kennedy, Head of Category Management at Distrelec said; “We are delighted to add the MULTOS Trust Core development kit to our growing secure product portfolio. We are always looking for better ways to support our customers in delivering results for their businesses. The MULTOS Trust Core addition and our partnership with MULTOS technology, and its impressive security heritage, is part of that. It is a valued addition to the extensive and evolving Distrelec offer.”
Paul Wilson, Commercial Manager of the MULTOS Consortium said “MULTOS technology is an ideal solution for many secure embedded device design requirements. Its robust security and user flexibility are a powerful combination of attributes which can be of great benefit to secure solution and device designers. The new MULTOS Trust Core development kit leverages those existing benefits and adds common industry functionality which further reduces design in effort and time. Via the capable Distrelec channel to market we are pleased to be supporting the worldwide MULTOS ecosystem with the new MULTOS Trust Core offer”.
